Review: Missha Super Aqua Refreshing Cleansing Foam

I've tried another cleanser from the same Super Aqua line, Missha Super Aqua Oxygen Micro Visible Deep Cleanser, and was very impressed with its truly "deep" cleansing compared to the other cleansers (details in my blog post here). However, the only problem was that you needed to wait for this cleanser to bubble, which is impossible for me because I'm always in a hurry in the morning. So when I got this sample with one of my orders, I thought, maybe this will give me the deep cleansing without the wait time?!

Description (taken from cosmetic-love):
  • Refreshing cleansing foam that massages away impurities with rich bubbles with sweet flag extract and willow bark extract
  • Sweet flag extract: Known to be used for oriental medicine with skin cleansing, relaxtion and soothing effect
  • Willow bark extract: Extracted from Willow tree bark, that protects the skin from harmful elements and the natural BHA ingredients softens the skin.
  • 1. After using cleansing cream or milk 2. Apply small amount on the palm and work into a rich lather 3. Massage the face and wash off thoroughly with lukewarm water.
My impression:

My experience with foam cleansers is that they are useful as morning cleansers. I need a little more exfoliation at night to get rid of the dirt and skin products that I've put on throughout the day. For that, I use Skinfood Brown Sugar Scrub Foam as my night cleanser. I've used quite a few foam cleansers until now, and my morning cleanser is also a foam cleanser, Skinfood Egg White Pore Foam which helps reduce my pore size. I've also tried Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing Foam, which is very close, if not the same, in effectiveness to the Skinfood.

When I tried this cleanser, however, I didn't feel the same as I did for Skinfood Egg White Pore Foam and Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing Foam  I felt that this cleanser was more of a cleansing cream than cleansing foam. It took me an extra 2-3 rinses on my face to get rid of all the cleanser on my face. And still then I felt that there may be a bit of residue remaining. It felt like I ended up getting more stuff ON my face than off. Because of that, my face didn't feel as refreshed as I usually do with my morning cleanser. So it definitely does NOT deep cleanse like its sister product from the same line, Missha Super Aqua Oxygen Micro Visible Deep Cleanser.

In terms of effectiveness, this sample is good for 3-5 uses and I haven't broken out or gotten an allergic reaction from this. But since it takes more time to rinse it off my face, I feel like I put more stuff on my face rather than off, it isn't any cheaper than the other cleansers, I don't see any benefits of using this over my usual morning cleanser, Skinfood Egg White Pore Foam or the similarly effective Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing Foam.

Summary:

Feels more like a cleansing cream than foam
Hard to rinse off
Leaves a residue feeling on my face
$16 for 200ml at cosmetic-love

Grade: 3/5 because it didn't break me out so it's effective in cleansing my face but hard to rinse off and leaves a residue

Value: 4/5 because it's a bit more expensive than other cleansers but also comes in 200ml

Repurchase? No
