The pin is for size comparison because this photo makes this tub look small. This is a cleansing cream for removing makeup. I actually bought this back in January but didn't get a chance to use it until when I went on vacation in June because I don't usually put foundation on (I usually only put on eye makeup which I remove with Skinfood Milk Shake Point Makeup Remover).
Description (from eng.theskinfood.com):
- The mineral-rich Brazilian black sugar in the cleansing cream leaves your skin moist after washing and gently removes the dense makeup.
- Apply a moderate amount of it over the entire face. After massaging it until the makeup dissolves into the cream, remove with a tissue or tepid water
I chose this cleansing cream for removing makeup because of the success I've had with the cleanser of the same line, Skinfood Black Sugar Scrub Foam. The only other cleansing cream that I've tried before is the TonyMoly Clean Dew Broccoli Sprout Cleansing Cream. I don't use BB cream or mineral foundation very often, and most BB cream colors are too pale for me. The one that I've had the best success with (without looking like a pale ghost) is Missha BB mineral foundation. But the problem is I've got these large problematic pores on my right cheeks right beside my nose and every time I use BB cream or foundation, it will without fail clog one pore enough to make it a pimple for the rest of the week!
So I decided to try out this cleansing cream to see if it can clean my face enough so that I will not get a pimple when I use Missha BB mineral foundation. This cleansing cream, even though it says black "sugar," has no sugar grains and is very creamy. It does seem to remove makeup gently in that it doesn't itch or irritate my skin when I put it on and massage it all over my face. My skin does feel moist (not that this cleansing cream gives moist, just that it doesn't strip the moisture away from my face) after washing.
I wash it with water afterwards and then cleanse again with Skinfood Black Sugar Scrub Foam. When I used my first cleansing cream, TonyMoly Clean Dew Broccoli Sprout Cleansing Cream, I thought you didn't need to use cleanser after and I got a pimple the day after -_-. This cleansing cream is gentle enough in that my face doesn't feel like it got butchered after washing it back to back with two cleansers.
Now onto the most important thing: does it effectively remove makeup? I used Missha BB mineral foundation everyday and used this cleansing cream everyday before my Skinfood Black Sugar Scrub Foam during my 2 week vacation. No pimples at all :D But I have to say that after coming back from vacation, I put on foundation but forgot to use this cleansing cream FIRST so I used it AFTER Skinfood Black Sugar Scrub Foam and I got a clogged pore. Order matters? I didn't massage deep enough? Just bad luck? Cleansing cream not as effective as I thought? Who knows...
Summary:
Put on foundation - cleansing cream + cleanser = pimple
Put on foundation + cleansing cream + cleanser = no pimple :D
$16 for 200g on eBay
Grade: 4.5/5 because it was effective in preventing me from getting that post-foundation pimple!
Value: 4/5 because it's a huge tub of cleansing cream but there are cheaper ones out there like TonyMoly Clean Dew Broccoli Sprout Cleansing Cream
Repurchase? Since I rarely put foundation on, this tub will last me awhile. But after finishing this I think I'd want to try other cleansing creams before repurchasing this one.
Wow this sounds like a great product, I have Skinfood's black sugar mask and I'm loving it so I might try this one as well. :)
ReplyDeleteAh yes I've heard great things about that mask but I have yet to try it! Hope the cleansing cream works well for you if you decide to try it out :)
DeleteHave you thought about trying cleansing oils? :p
ReplyDeleteI've tried cleansing oils...they broke me out every time. So no more lol
DeleteWow, really? Even after using a foam cleanser after? (Unless you don't, then I suggest you should just to be extra sure.) D:
DeleteAnd you should definitely always use the cleansing cream first and then finish it off w/ the foam cleanser, because if you don't, I think it leaves behind some (oily) residue, so that's why you might've gotten a clogged pore.
I remember when I used a cleansing oil I used a cleanser afterwards, but I'm not sure if it was a foam cleanser though haha. But yeah with this cleansing cream I used a cleansing foam afterwards
DeleteI have Indian skin and this product was wonderful in removing makeup and leaving my skin moist. I did use a oil cleanser SHU UEMURA after that but just a tiny amount.
ReplyDeleteOh nice! Glad that it worked for you :D
DeleteAppreciate it! This a great web site
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI'm curious...have you tried out the Skinfood Black Sugar Jelly Foam. Since you have tried the black sugar scrub foam (my fave so far), I'd love to know your thoughts on the jelly foam.
ReplyDeleteNo I haven't! Have you? When I googled I realized I've seen it before in stores, but I've actually never paid much attention to it! Might give it a try next time :)
DeleteGreat! I'll also try to grab it in my next online purchase. :)
