Review: Skin79 SUE Hydrating Fluid (essence/emulsion))

I got this as a complimentary sample in one of my many Korean cosmetic purchases on eBay. This is something that I would never buy myself because my troubled skin needs a lot more help from a moisturizer than hydration. But since it was a sample given I decided to give it a try during the weekend, when I wouldn't be facing too many people.

Description (taken from skin79northamerica.com):
  • Hydrating fluid with the function of both essence and emulsion provides ample moisture, maintaining the ideal moisture balance of your skin and keeping your skin moist and full of vitality throughout the day.
My impression:

This product has a very runny consistency. It's very easy to spread around my face and absorbs pretty quickly so it's good for in the morning when you're on the go. It's very light and I didn't feel that there was something on my face at all.

It does do what it promises in providing hydration. And it does so without making me feel sticky. However, I don't know if it's hydrating enough to be called a hydrating fluid. I have oily/combination skin and I felt that my face felt moisturized, but it didn't feel like it had AMPLE moisture. It's moisturizing for someone with oily skin or those living in hot and humid climates, but I'd be a bit hesitant to recommend this to people with dry skin.

Also, if you've read some of my other posts, you'll remember that my face has a pretty unhealthy color and lacks any sort of "glow" that other people have. Fortunately, since I found Missha Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail Cream, that has helped me a lot and I've been using it everyday in the morning. But since this is just a hydrating fluid, I felt that my skin color was back to its usual unhealthy glow-less lifeless color.

Summary:

Light, quickly absorbed
Hydrating for those with oily/combination skin and/or in hot and humid climates
Probably not hydrating enough for those with dry skin
$23 for 150ml on Skin79 North America website

Grade: 3/5 because it does moisturize but not enough to be called a hydrating fluid

Value: 4/5 because it's a huge bottle but it only hydrates

Repurchase? No, unfortunately my face has too many problems to buy something that does nothing but moisturize
